“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” I Peter 4:10
“Our common life in Christ and the unity of the Spirit do not eradicate individuality; they stimulate diversity, for God’s work is to make us more truly who we are meant to be.” Charles Ringma
I read recently the above quotes and got to thinking about three different groups of people we have been with In the last two months — U.S. CRM staff conference, North Bible Church leaders in Scottsdale, AZ and JPL Bible Church leaders, Rancho Mirage, CA. — all God’s kids, uniquely diverse with various gifts from God.
The first picture is of our CRM U.S. staff conference held in July at Estes Park YMCA in Colorado. I had the privilege of leading the group in prayer at each evening meeting. Scott and I are on the left edge of the picture. 🙂
Scott took this picture of the gathering of leaders meeting to process the results of their recent NCD church health survey. Here is a group of people who love their church and have hearts to see North be all it can be.
I took this picture August 25 at the Discovery Workshop we led in our home church in the desert. Leading these workshops always challenges and motivates Scott and me as we pray and prepare the days before the event — and then lead the event.
Each time we are with a group of God’s people, we observe the body of Christ working together within their own unique approaches. In the case of the above workshops, we rejoiced in seeing the diversity of God’s people using their creativity to work on a preferred future.
I say three cheers to God’s great design to give us different gifts which enhance the diversity among the body.
“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is heathy and growing and full of love.” Eph 4:16 NLT
