Loving Each Other – a Mystery and a Joy!

At the conclusion of an Action Planning Workshop with the Living Word Church of Dayton, Ohio, I asked myself “why is it that Scott and I feel the way we do about these people? Why do we speak of them warmly and pray for them often?  Why do we wonder how they are doing and look forward to hearing from them and spending time with them again in a few months? ”

I believe there is an amazing and wonderful mystery shared by brothers and sisters in Christ who love Jesus with all their hearts while in a process of learning to love each other in Jesus’ way.

When I read Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, I know he feels the same way about the people of Thessalonica. He spoke of his feelings for them when he said in I Thessalonians 3:6, speaking of Timothy who had just come with a report of these friends of his, “But Timothy has just now come to us from you and brought good news about your faith and love.  He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you.”

We have been at the Living Word Church twice in the last three months, enjoyed worshipping together, brought to them what we had to offer as we serve the body of Christ and learned much from them.  We have spent time together as a group and one on one.  We have eaten “lots” of meals together, laughed together, and yes, even played together.

Thanks be to God for the love he gives us as we walk along this journey called LIFE WITH HIM!
