California Time – Full and Rewarding

California Time — Full and Rewarding

HE WAS WAITING FOR ME AT THE AIRPORT WITH FLOWERS!!   (Anyone would agree
that is a great way to be greeted.)

I thought I would give you a brief highlight of life during our California season.  I arrived here May 20. Scott came earlier to administer a Natural Church Development Survey at La Jolla Community Church. He picked me up at the airport
with flowers and wisked me off to Dana Point Harbor Marina where we had two wonderful days celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary.  Upon arriving back at our get-away he had candles, chocolates and wine! Hey, maybe we should be apart more often!!

We stayed a few more days in Laguna Niguel with our friends, Lou and Tamara Spampinato. They had already opened their home to Scott for three weeks before my arrival. May 25 we drove to Palm Desert and set up housekeeping on Setting Sun Trail.

The picture is of my sweet husband preaching at JPL Bible Church last weekend.

Life in the Desert

We have jumped into church life at JPL Bible Church and are enjoying every minute of it. I
have been attending a Beth Moore study on Revelation on Monday nights. I also
went to a “women’s slumber party” at a Mariott here in the area. That was a great way to get to know a few more women from the church. The Sunday we got up to share a little about JPL’s most recent NCD survey results with the church, a young couple standing nearby struck up a
conversation because he was fascinated with the survey and what it could reveal about church life. They had just gotten married and moved to Joshua Tree which is near the Marine base where
he is stationed. This week we started driving out to their home to do a study together about the Holy Lands and its history. We also have a growing friendship with another young couple at JPL who are passionate about the Lord and eager to discuss life in Jesus.

Scott so enjoys the time he spends with pastor Steve Sorensen and the staff. We are grateful we have been invited into the life of the church with open arms. We have an invitation to help with church development in any way we can. We have been to one elder couples’ retreat and will be attending another one shortly.  We had an added treat this month when my younger sister (pictured above), Dianne and her husband, Brent, stayed with us for a couple of days. We took a revolving tram to the top of a mountain near Palm Springs. It was amazing to hike around in gorgeous scenery on the mountain top and, especially, to be in temperatures 40 degrees cooler than where we live! Amazing!

Our Orange County Friends

Two weeks after my arrival I attended the Women’s Retreat for Crossline Community Church. This was a wonderful time of connecting with old friends and especially making a new friend who was turning her life over to the Lord. Crossline is our home church in Orange County.

Every week or two we drive the two hours into Orange County to visit churches and reconnect with friends. Kevin and Theresa Hayashida are friends we enjoyed spending time with recently. He pastors Crossroads Community Church in Lake Forest. We are also making appointments with people to tell them about our ministry and request their financial partnership in helping churches become ever healthier.

We use our Orange County visits to see our family doctor, dentist, chiropractor, massage
therapist and hair dresser — structures that help keep our lives running smoothly.

Thank you, friends who read this for your interest and prayers for our lives and ministry.

This is Delores, for the two of us
